The Founding Conviction
The most sacred objects deserve the most rigorous authentication.
Rudra Guru was founded by a lineage of collectors, practitioners, and jewellers who had grown with a market flooded by imitation. Synthetic beads, artificially carved faces, and chemically treated surfaces had made it nearly impossible for a discerning buyer to know what they were holding.
We set out to change that. Not by creating a new product — but by applying the standards of authentication to one of the world's oldest sacred objects. Every bead we sell has been examined, tested, and certified before it reaches a setting.
The result is something we call the atelier standard: objects that carry genuine spiritual lineage and meet the highest standards of material integrity. Nothing fabricated. Nothing compromised.

What is Rudraksha?
Rudraksha (Sanskrit: रुद्राक्ष) is the seed of the Elaeocarpus ganitrus tree — born, according to the Shiva Purana, from the tears of Lord Shiva after millennia of meditation. Each bead is classified by its number of mukhi (faces), which determines its presiding deity, governing planet, and spiritual properties.

The First Mention
The Shiva Purana records the origin of Rudraksha — born from the tears of Lord Shiva after millennia of meditation. Ancient texts describe 108 varieties, each governing a different facet of human consciousness.
The Tantric Codification
Tantric scholars of the Shaiva tradition systematised the classification of Rudraksha by mukhi (face). The Pancha Mukhi — five-faced — was established as the most universally protective, governing the five elements and the five senses.
The Himalayan Trade Routes
Rudraksha cultivation spread from the Himalayan foothills of Nepal into the highland forests of Java and Sumatra. Two distinct botanical varieties emerged: the smaller, denser Nepali bead and the larger, more porous Indonesian variety — each prized for different spiritual applications.

Three Regions. One Standard.
Every Rudraksha we carry is traced to one of three sacred sourcing regions — the Himalayan foothills of Nepal, the volcanic highlands of Java, and the sacred forests of India. Each region produces a botanically distinct bead with its own altitude, harvest season, and spiritual tradition.

The Atelier

Our master goldsmiths work exclusively with 22k and 18k gold and platinum. Every setting is hand-fabricated — no casting, no machine finishing. The bead is never drilled beyond its natural channel, and the metal is shaped around the bead rather than the bead being forced into a pre-made setting.
This approach takes longer. It requires more skill. And it produces a piece that will outlast its wearer — because the bead and the metal have been made for each other, not assembled from interchangeable parts.
Each artisan signs their work. Their name appears in the provenance report that ships with every piece.

The Certification Process
From Forest to Certificate
We were the first house to apply GIA-accredited laboratory standards to Rudraksha authentication. Here is exactly what happens between harvest and your hands.
Step 01
Field Authentication
Every bead is examined at source by our trained field agents. We verify species, mukhi count, and structural integrity before purchase. Beads with cracks, artificial markings, or irregular faces are rejected at this stage.
Step 02
Laboratory Analysis
Accepted beads are sent to our GIA-accredited partner laboratories in Mumbai and London. Each bead undergoes microscopic surface analysis, density testing, and botanical verification. The lab issues a unique certificate number tied to the bead.
Step 03
Artisan Setting
Certified beads are passed to our master goldsmiths, who work exclusively in 22k and 18k gold and platinum. Each setting is hand-fabricated — no casting, no machine finishing. The bead is never drilled beyond its natural channel.
Step 04
Final Inspection & Provenance Report
Before packaging, every piece undergoes a final quality review. We compile a full provenance report: source region, harvest date, lab certificate number, artisan name, and setting metal. This document ships with every piece.
