How is the gold setting verified?

All gold settings are XRF (X-ray fluorescence) assayed for purity before being set. We use 22k gold for traditional settings and 18k for contemporary designs. The metal purity is stated on the Certificate of Authenticity.

What does the Certificate of Authenticity include?

Each certificate carries: the bead's unique identification number, mukhi count, origin (Nepal or Indonesia), approximate weight and diameter, the results of each authentication test, the name of the certifying laboratory, the date of certification, and a QR code linking to the bead's full digital provenance record. The certificate is printed on archival paper with a gold seal and is signed by our head curator.

What is the Provenance Record?

The Provenance Record is a detailed three-page document that traces the bead's journey from harvest to your hands. It includes the region of origin, the harvest season, the artisan or cooperative who processed the bead, the date of authentication, and a photographic record of the bead at key stages. It is accessible digitally via the QR code on your certificate and is also included as a printed insert with every order.

How do I scan the QR code on my certificate?

Accepted Answer

No app is required. Simply open your phone's built-in camera (iPhone Camera, Android Camera, or Google Lens), point it at the QR code on your certificate, and tap the link that appears on screen. Your browser will open directly to your bead's provenance page, showing its full journey from the Himalayan harvest to your hands. The QR code works on any smartphone — it is a permanent link to your bead's unique digital record.

Question 15

Can I verify my bead's authenticity online?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every Rudra Guru bead has a unique identification number printed on its certificate. You can enter this number on our Certification page to access the full digital provenance record, including laboratory test results and photographic documentation. This record is permanently stored and cannot be altered.

Question 16

Can I have my bead independently verified by a third party?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. We encourage it. Any GIA-accredited gemological laboratory can verify the bead's authenticity. If an independent test ever contradicts our certification, we will issue a full refund with no questions asked. In over a decade of operation, this has never occurred.

Can I verify my certificate independently?

Accepted Answer

How long does the authentication process take?

The full seven-stage protocol takes 10–14 working days from receipt of the bead at our partner laboratory. For bespoke commissions, we provide a provisional authentication timeline at the time of order.

Are all Rudraksha types equally rare?

Accepted Answer

No. One-faced (Ek Mukhi) and fourteen-faced (Chaudah Mukhi) beads are exceptionally rare in their natural form. Higher mukhi counts command greater scrutiny in our authentication process precisely because demand for imitations is highest.

What happens if a bead fails authentication?

It is destroyed. We do not sell, return, or repurpose beads that fail any stage of our protocol. Our rejection rate is approximately 40% of all beads submitted — a figure we consider a mark of integrity, not inefficiency.

How does the bespoke commission process work?

Our team will respond within one business day to arrange a private consultation — by phone, video call, or in person in London. In which currency are prices displayed?

Prices are displayed in your selected currency using live exchange rates. All transactions are processed in GBP (British Pounds Sterling). The final charge on your card will be in GBP; your bank may apply a foreign exchange fee for non-GBP cards.

Will I be charged import duties or customs fees?

Accepted Answer

Import duties and taxes may apply depending on your country. Within the UK and EU, no import duties apply. For the USA, import duties are typically not levied on jewellery and gemstones under $800. For China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, and other East Asian destinations, local customs regulations vary — we recommend checking with your local customs authority. All shipments are declared at full value as required by law. We include full customs documentation with every international order and are happy to advise on your specific destination.

Can I send a piece as a gift?

Yes. At checkout, you may include a personalised gift message which will be printed on a card and placed inside the presentation box. We also offer complimentary gift wrapping with a silk ribbon seal. How will I know my order has been placed successfully?

You will receive an order confirmation email immediately after payment is processed. This email includes your order number, a summary of the items purchased, the delivery address, and an estimated dispatch date. Can I amend or cancel my order after placing it?

Orders can be amended or cancelled within 2 hours of placement, provided the item has not yet been dispatched. Please contact us immediately at hello@rudraguru.com with your order number. Once an order has been dispatched, it cannot be cancelled — please refer to our Returns policy. Bespoke commissions cannot be cancelled once the sourcing process has begun.

Are prices inclusive of VAT?

All prices displayed on the site are inclusive of UK VAT at the current rate (20%). If you are ordering from outside the UK, VAT will be removed at checkout and replaced with any applicable local taxes. A VAT receipt is included with every UK order.

UK orders are dispatched within 1–2 business days and delivered within 2–4 business days via Royal Mail Special Delivery or DHL. EU orders typically arrive within 3–7 business days. All international shipments are sent via DHL Express or FedEx International Priority. Bespoke commissions have separate lead times of 4–8 weeks.

How is the piece packaged?

Every Rudra Guru piece is presented in our signature dark lacquered box, lined with silk. The box contains the piece, its Certificate of Authenticity, the Provenance Record, a silk storage pouch, a care card, and a consecration guide. The outer shipping box is plain and discreet, with no branding visible externally. High-value pieces are shipped in a tamper-evident security bag within the outer box.

Can I track my order?

Yes. A tracking number is emailed to you as soon as your order is dispatched. You can track your shipment directly on the DHL, FedEx, or Royal Mail website using this number. For high-value international shipments, our team will proactively monitor the delivery and contact you if any issue arises.

Is a signature required on delivery?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All Rudra Guru shipments require a signature on delivery. This is mandatory for insurance purposes. If you are not available to receive the delivery, the courier will leave a card and attempt redelivery. After two failed attempts, the parcel will be held at your local depot for collection. Please ensure someone is available to receive the delivery, or provide a safe delivery instruction at checkout.

What happens if my order is lost or damaged in transit?

All shipments are fully insured. In the unlikely event of loss or damage, please contact us within 48 hours of the expected delivery date. We will initiate a claim with the courier and either replace the piece or issue a full refund, at your preference. Please retain all original packaging if the piece arrives damaged, as this is required for the insurance claim.

What is your returns policy?

We offer a 14-day return window from the date of delivery for all standard collection pieces in their original, unworn condition with all original packaging and documentation. International return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer unless the item is faulty.

Can I return a bespoke commission?

Bespoke commissions are made to order and cannot be returned unless there is a manufacturing defect or the piece does not match the agreed specification. If you have any concerns about a bespoke piece, please contact us within 48 hours of receipt and we will work to resolve the issue. We take great pride in our craftsmanship and will always find a satisfactory resolution.

Can I exchange a piece for a different one?

Yes. Exchanges are available within 14 days of delivery on standard collection pieces. If the replacement piece is of higher value, you will be charged the difference. If it is of lower value, we will issue a refund for the difference. Please contact us to arrange an exchange — we will guide you through the process and ensure the transition is smooth.

How long does a refund take?

Once we receive and inspect the returned piece, we will process your refund within 3–5 business days. The refund will be issued to the original payment method. Depending on your bank, it may take a further 3–10 business days to appear in your account. You will receive an email confirmation when the refund has been processed.

What if my piece arrives with a defect?

In the rare event that a piece arrives with a manufacturing defect, please contact us within 48 hours of receipt with photographs of the issue. We will arrange collection at our cost and either repair, replace, or refund the piece — whichever you prefer. Our quality control process is rigorous, but we stand fully behind every piece we sell.

In what condition must a piece be returned?

Returned pieces must be unworn, in their original condition, with all original packaging (presentation box, silk pouch, certificate, provenance record, and care card) intact. How do I care for my Rudraksha day to day?

Wipe the bead gently with a soft dry cloth after each wear to remove perspiration and dust. Remove before swimming, bathing, exercising, or applying perfume, cologne, or hairspray. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Store in the silk pouch provided when not wearing. These simple habits will preserve the bead's surface and energetic integrity for decades.

How and when should I oil my Rudraksha?

Apply a small amount of pure sesame oil or sandalwood oil to the bead surface once a month. Use a soft cloth or cotton bud and work the oil gently into the mukhi lines. Allow to absorb for 15–20 minutes, then wipe away any excess. Never use synthetic oils, chemical polishes, or petroleum-based products. Traditionally, oiling is performed on a Monday or during the waxing moon phase.

How do I care for the gold or platinum setting?

Polish the metal setting gently with a jeweller's cloth to maintain its lustre. Avoid contact with chlorine, bleach, ammonia, and abrasive cleaners. Remove before applying hand sanitiser or washing up liquid. Do not use ultrasonic cleaners at home — vibration can loosen the bead within its setting. How should I store my Rudraksha when not wearing it?

Always store in the silk pouch provided, or in the presentation box. Silk is the traditional material for storing sacred objects — it is non-reactive, breathable, and protects against dust and humidity. Keep away from direct sunlight, damp environments, and extreme temperature changes. Do not store in plastic bags or synthetic pouches. If you own multiple beads, store each in its own individual pouch — beads of different mukhi counts should not be in direct contact for extended periods.

What should I do if my bead cracks or breaks?

A cracked or broken Rudraksha should not be discarded carelessly. In Vedic tradition, a broken bead is traditionally immersed in a sacred river or buried at the root of a Peepal or Bilva tree. If the bead was damaged due to a manufacturing defect or a fault in the setting, please contact us within 48 hours and we will arrange a replacement.

In the Chinese and East Asian tradition, dates aligned with the lunar calendar — particularly those associated with the Wood or Water elements — are considered favourable for receiving sacred objects. Every Rudra Guru piece is consecrated before dispatch using the traditional Vedic Prana Pratishtha ritual — the bead is bathed in Panchamrit (milk, curd, honey, ghee, and sugar), dried, anointed with sandalwood paste, and energised with the appropriate mantra by a qualified pandit.
